Product Description
1. Product use
The capacitors in this manual are shunt capacitor units (hereinafter referred to as capacitors) applicable to AC power systems with nominal voltages above 1kV and frequencies of 50 or 60 Hz to improve power factor and power grid quality. The products adopt GB/T 11024.1 and DL/T 840 standards.
2. Product model and meaning
E.g:
BAM12-500-1W
Meaning: polypropylene film dielectric impregnated by benzyl toluene, rated voltage 12kV, rated capacity 500kvar, single-phase, outdoor shunt capacitor
3. Product structure
The capacitor is mainly composed of three parts: the case, the core and the impregnant. The box shell is made of high-quality thin steel plate by bending and sealing and welding. Lead-out sleeves are welded on the box cover, and hangers for transportation and installation are welded on both sides of the box shell. The core is composed of several elements and insulators connected in series and parallel. The components are made by rolling polypropylene film as solid medium and aluminum foil as pole plate, and the case is filled with impregnating agent with excellent performance.
4. Conditions of use
4.1 Environmental use conditions:
A. The altitude of the use area does not exceed 1000m.
B. Ambient temperature in the use area: -40~+45ºC.
C. There should be no violent mechanical vibration, no harmful gas and steam, and no conductive or explosive dust in the place of use.
4.2 Other conditions of use:
Before the capacitor is put into operation, the remaining voltage between its terminals should not exceed 10% of the rated voltage.
4.3 When the capacitor involves high relative humidity, rapid growth of mold, corrosive atmosphere, pollution, and altitude exceeding 1000m
In the event of any special use conditions such as earthquake areas, the purchaser shall notify the company and negotiate to determine the type of product and special precautions to be taken.
5. Ratings and main technical performance
5.1 Rated voltage:
1.05; 3.15; 6.6/√3; 6.3; 10.5/√3; 10.5; 11/√3; 11; 11/2; 12/2; 12/√3; 12; 24/√3; 24kV.
5.2 Rated capacity:
100; 150; 200; 300; 334; 400; 417; 500; 667kvar.
5.3 Product technical parameters (see Appendix A).
5.4 Product and installation dimensions (see Appendix B).
5.5 Capacitance deviation:
The deviation between the measured capacitance of the capacitor and the rated value should not exceed -5 to +5% of the rated value; for a three-phase capacitor, the ratio of the maximum value to the minimum value measured between any two terminals should not exceed 1.02.
5.6 Under the rated voltage, the capacitor loss tangent (tanδ) value at a temperature of 20°C, the full-film dielectric capacitor should not exceed 0.0005.
5.7 The capacitor terminal can withstand a power frequency AC experimental voltage test of 2.15 times the rated voltage, which lasts 10s.
5.8 All capacitors whose terminals are insulated from the shell can withstand the short-time power frequency withstand voltage test and lightning impulse voltage test of the insulation class corresponding to the rated voltage of the capacitor in Table 1 between the terminal and the shell, which lasts 10s. Capacitors that have one terminal fixedly connected to the case are not subject to this test.

5.9 Overload capacity
a. Overvoltage: The capacitor should be able to operate under the voltage level given in Table 2. But the overvoltages higher than 1.15UN given in Table 2 should not exceed 500 times during the life of the capacitor.
Table 2 Allowable voltage levels during operation
| Type | Voltage factor×UN (Root mean square value) |
Maximum duration | Description |
| Power frequency | 1.00 | continuous | The highest average value of the capacitor at any time during operation |
| Power frequency | 1.10 | 12h every 24h | System voltage adjustment and fluctuation |
| Power frequency | 1.15 | 30min every 24h | System voltage adjustment and fluctuation |
| Power frequency | 1.20 | 5min | Voltage rise under light load |
| Power frequency | 1.30 | 1min | |
| Power frequency plus harmonics | So that the current does not exceed the value given in Article 5.9b | ||
b. Overcurrent: The capacitor should be able to operate under continuous overcurrent that does not exceed 1.3 times the rated current of the capacitor caused by fundamental overvoltage or harmonics or both. For capacitors with actual capacitance up to 1.05 times the rated capacitance, continuous overcurrent is allowed to reach 1.37 times the rated current.
