Type THHN or THWN-2 conductors are primarily used in conduit and cable trays for services, feeders, and branch circuits in commercial or industrial applications as specified in the National Electric Code
When used as a type THHN conductor it is suitable for use in dry locations that are not to exceed temperatures of 90º C
THHN copper conductors are annealed (soft) copper
Heat-, moisture-, gasoline- and oil-resistant
General purpose building wire for services, feeders and branch circuits.
Temperature rating not to exceed:
THHN/THWN: 90° C dry and dump, 600V
THHN/THWN: 75 ° C wet or in oil, 600V
THWN-2: 90° C Dry, wet or in oil, 600V

2. Construction:
Conductor: Annealed Copper, solid or stranded sizes 14AWG up to 1000MCM
Insulation: Premium Grade Flame Retardant Polyvinyl Chloride( PVC)
Jacket: Tough Polyamide (Nylon)

3. Standard&Test Specification:
THHN/THWN-2 Conforms to following standards:
UL83 for Thermoplastic Insulated Wire and Cables(THHN/THWN-2)
UL758 for Appliance Wiring Materials(AWM)
UL1063 for Machine Tool Wire(MTW)(Stranded Conductor Only).
4. Insulation

Each conductor shall be insulated with PVC and sheathed with nylon complying with requirements of UL Standard 83 for Types THHN or THWN, UL Standard 1063 for Type MTW and CSA C22.2 No. 75 for T90 Nylon. In addition, Types THWN or THHN shall comply with the optional Gasoline and Oil Resistant II rating of UL Standard 83. The insulation on stranded sizes shall also comply with UL requ irements for 105° C Appliance Wiring Material.

The average thickness of PVC insulation, for a given conductor size, shall be as specified in UL Standard 83 for Types THWN or THHN. The minimum thickness at any point, of the PVC insulation, shall be not less than 90% of the specified average thickness. The minimum thickness at any point of the nylon sheath, shall be as specified in UL Standard 83 for Types THWN or THHN. The PVC insulation shall be appl ied tightly to the conductor and shall be free-stripping.
