NYY Cable is widely used in power systems of rated voltage 1000V and below such as urban communities, office buildings, supermarkets, etc. Unarmored cables are designated for general use including burial, where they are not likely to suffer mechniacal damage.

IEC 60502: Power cables with extruded insulation and their accessories for rated voltages from 1kV (Um=1.2kV) up to 30 kV (Um=36kV).
