Applications

The XLPE-covered aluminum cable is constituted by a compact round conductor, composed of aluminum strands, blocked or not, and with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) covered in black or gray color, with special characteristics to be resistant against electric tracking and UV rays.

As XLPE is a thermoset material, it enables operation up to 90°C continuously implying higher capacity when compared to thermoplastic materials.

The main application for covered aluminum cables is on compact overhead, primary power distribution, and medium-voltage networks located in urban and wooded areas. These cables are an excellent technical and economical option for companies all over the world since they feature such advantages as low manufacturing cost and ease of installation.
