APPLICATIONS

Aluminum-clad steel are high strength steel wires, coated with aluminum in an extruding procedure, and afterwards drawn during a hydrodynamic drawing process to their final diameter. Aluminum-clad steel wires are used as a substitute for galvanized steel in overhead lines, which are phase conductors, earth wires, fiber optic wires and conductors.The use of high strength steel wires with a thick aluminum coating results in substantial advantages compared to conventional galvanized steel wires.

STRUCTURE:

Aluminum clad steel wire is manufactured by the continuous extrusion method which bonds high purity aluminum to high strength steel wire. The thick aluminum cladding provides aluminum clad steel wire with superior corrosion resistance as well as high conductivity. Aluminum clad steel wire incorporates the capability to vary the aluminum thickness as required for the higher conductivity described in the latest ASTM and IEC standards.

FEATURES:

Sufficiently strong bonding strength at the boundary between aluminum layer and steel core;High corrosion resistance due to thick EC-grade aluminum covering against industrial and sea water atmospheres. Lower electrical resistance for a given cross section, and thus lower transducer losses.Lower weight leads to lower sag and tower loads.
