MV and LV Line Accessories

Steel stay rod, 20mm diameter and 250mm long, complete with ratchet for length adjustment and plate for stay block, to BS EN 10137 pt (1 to 3), Grade 43A or equivalent as per Figure 5 below. All items shall be galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461 or equivalent. The minimum strength of the stay rod shall be 65kN.

STAYWIRE AND BOW TYPE STAY ACCESSORIES

PART 1 GENERAL

1.01 SCOPE

These Specifications cover the design, manufacturing testing, supply, delivery and performance requirements of stay wire and bow type stay accessories.

1.02 STANDARDS

The staywire and accessories shall comply with the latest editions of and amendments to, the standards/specifications listed below:

Where any provision of this Specification differs from the above listed Standards, it shall be the bidders’ responsibility to bring such differences or discrepancies to the attention of prior to or at the time of bidding and seek clarifications from NEDCo. If such differences or discrepancies are not brought to the attention of NEDCo prior to or at the time of bidding, the requirements of most stringent specification shall apply.

The Supplier may propose alternative standards, provided it is demonstrated that they give an equivalent or higher degree of quality as the referenced standards. Acceptability of any alternative standard is at the sole discretion of. Any offers of such alternative standards shall be covered by an additional warranty period of six months over the specified warranty period.

1.05 TESTING AND INSPECTION

A. Routine Tests

1. Each separate consignment shall be accepted or rejected by the Purchaser, depending on the result of tests carried out on 10% of each of the individual items of the consignment ready for dispatch. These tests shall be carried out free of charge to the Purchaser.

The Supplier shall furnish the certified results of the tests to the Purchaser, who must signify his approval of the Test Certificates before any material is dispatched from the Works.

2. The following tests shall be carried out on the staywire, and the required values are set out as follows:

Stay Thimbles

Stay thimbles shall be manufactured from crescent shape steel bar to BS 464 or equivalent, galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461 or equivalent and shall be as per Figure 3 below. All sharp ends shall be removed by grinding.

D. Stay Bow and Crosshead

Stay bow and crosshead to facilitate stay length adjustment shall be as shown on Figure 4 below. The Stay bow shall be to BS EN 10137 pt (1 to 3) Grade 43A or equivalent with crosshead being of cast iron. All items shall be galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461 or equivalent. The minimum strength of bow and crosshead shall be 65kN.

E. Stay Rod

Steel stay rod, 20mm diameter and 250mm long, complete with ratchet for length adjustment and plate for stay block, to BS EN 10137 pt (1 to 3), Grade 43A or equivalent as per Figure 5 below. All items shall be galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461 or equivalent. The minimum strength of the stay rod shall be 65kN.

F. Markings

The manufacturer’s name or trademark and the letters NEDCo shall be clearly stamped on every fitting.
