Product Description

The water cooled cable generally consists of multiple copper wire strands which are soldered or crimped

to copper terminals at

either end of the cable.

The copper cable is covered with a rubber hose which is secured at the terminals with nonmagnetic stainless steel

bands.

General Features

The electric arc furnace secondary electrical circuit consists of several components including the delta closure

secondary circuit, water

cooled cables, electrode arms, and the electrodes.

The water cooled cables are the only flexible part of the secondary electrical system. These allow for raising,

lowering and swinging of the electrodes. Furnaces usually operate with between two and four cables per phase.

The arc. water cooled cables have been designed for specific applications. The whole range benefits from the
experience acquired in the arc furnace market, which is the most demanding one for cables. Nevertheless,
supplies specific cables for each main application as electrometallurgy, foundries, …· New application are
possible, water cooled cables being the ideal solution for high current in limited space with need for flexibility.·
The copper we use is exclusively high conductivity electrolytic copper (Cu min 99.9%).
The internal conductor structure is of “Rope-Lay” type, with elementary strands of concentric composition,
using unit wires with an optimized diameter (from 0.5 to 0.85 mm).
The water jacket is an essential component, which often determines the cable’s life time. This is a very technical
product, with our own accurate specification. We strongly recommend not to use any other jacket on our cables
even for temporary repair.
Bundle with stainless steel bands
Some of copper ropes are covered with perforated and highly abrasive resistant rubber tubes to prevent the
copper wire broken or damaged.
