Single Core Conductor PVC Insulation 75c Wet or Dry

Description:

This category covers thermoplastic-insulated wire for use in accordance with Article 310 of ANSI/NFPA 70, "National Electrical Code. "
TW – Indicates a single conductor having flame-retardant, moisture-resistant thermoplastic insulation. The wire is rated 60° C wet or dry.
THHN – Indicates a single conductor having flame-retardant and heat-resistant thermoplastic insulation with a jacket of extruded nylon or equivalent material. The wire is rated 90° C dry only.
THW – Indicates a single conductor having flame-retardant, moisture- and heat-resistant thermoplastic insulation. The wire is rated 75° C wet or dry.
THW-2 – Same as THW except that the wire is rated 90° C wet or dry.
THHW – Indicates a single conductor having flame-retardant, moisture- and heat-resistant thermoplastic insulation. The wire is rated 90° C dry and 75° C wet.

Marking:
In place of three of the markings described above, the following multinational markings may be used:
"SR" in place of "Sunlight Resistant"
"PR" in place of "Oil Resistant"
"GR" in place of "Gasoline and Oil Resistant"

Insulation
Each conductor shall be insulated with PVC insulation complying with requirements of UL Standard 83 for Types THHN or THWN, THW, UL Standard 1063 for Type MTW and CSA C22.2 No. 75 for T90 Nylon. In addition, Types THWN or THHN shall comply with the optional Gasoline and Oil Resistant II rating of UL Standard 83. The insulation on stranded sizes shall also comply with UL requ irements for 105° C Appliance Wiring Material.
The average thickness of PVC insulation, for a given conductor size, shall be as specified in UL Standard 83 for Types THWN or THHN, THW. The minimum thickness at any point, of the PVC insulation, shall be not less than 90% of the specified average thickness. The minimum thickness at any point of the nylon sheath, shall be as specified in UL Standard 83 for Types THWN or THHN. The PVC insulation shall be appl ied tightly to the conductor and shall be free-stripping.
